Introduction

"Rumble roll" will be the newest lip biting, exciting sky high puzzle game to hit your screens. Giving you a modern game for the gaming fanatics and those who like to game now and again... It will be a three-dimensional puzzle strategy game.

My game will be constructed with the use of Unity and will be developed in a three dimensional viewing field. The 'map' of Rumble Roll will appear to be as if it was floating in the air to give the player the effect of if they fall, they fall from a immense height. All players will start on 'level one' and depending on their skills and intelligence, they can move up in levels.

A puzzle game that pushes the boundaries of modern gaming. The visuals will draw you in. Even as simplistic as a "ball puzzle game" can look, Rumble Roll will open new doors on how "simple" can be the better games. Play anywhere and anytime. The power is in the player...

With jumps and turns to view your course, you'll interact with traps and obstacles. You'll pan the camera to view your rolling ball and well lets hope you don't...fall.

Gameplay

Gameplay will consist of a series of levels, each level will have a different path/course. You can collect gems as you roll your way through the course but it won't be as straight forward as you might think...
You can retrieve the gems in each maps level before reaching the end. There will be obstacles placed in certain sections of each levels course. Each course will become more difficult as the player goes along. This can include different types of surfaces e.g. icy paths, oil spills, leaf traps etc. The player will have to carefully construct every move they make.

Rumble Roll gives the player the power, they simply have to decide whether to try stay alive or well...fall to their death. Rumble Roll is all in the players control. Using four keys to turn left. right forward and background and the space bar to leap and jumper. The pan of camera will be in the favour of the players view to give them the full advantage of seeing what lies ahead of their path.

Game currency: Gems will be the in-game currency. These can be collected at different levels. The gems will enable you to purchase new skins for your ball, which is the players character. This makes the game even more exciting by adding a custom to your ball.

Colour: The colour scheme will consist of visually pleasing colours and they will compliment each other. I don't want the colours to overwhelming as that may cause distraction the you as the player.

Furthering will investigation in regards to choosing colour palettes I know "Game Development" will help me with getting the knoweldge when picking out my colour scheme

Genre

The genre for Rumble Roll will fall in these following categories:
  • Puzzle
  • Adventure
  • Strategy Game
  • Turn-based Strategy
  • Fantasy
  • Futuristic

Conclusion

My aim for this game is to not make it for any particular age group. I want it to be as fair in allowing it to be for kids and adults. Making the game structure not too hard but making sure it is not too easy!

  1. Hi Linda
I think this is a really good pitch for your game. The simplicity of the objective but there is also a challenging aspect to it as well. The challenge being to try and collect gems on each level but also avoiding obstacles and trying not to fall off the map. Really good pitch and idea for a game cant wait to see how it turns out near the end of the semester.

  2. Hey Linda,
I love the idea, the gameplay and how the game has levels with a different path is amazing! The different paths sound great and it will definately make the game harder to play. It's nice to hear about the colours and them being subtle and not overwhelming because I can relate to the distracting point, if the colours are too much it's a lot of distraction. Great ideas!

  3. Hey Linda! Love this idea especially the way you have visually described it , sounds amazing! I especially love how the map will be floating on air I feel it adds suspense and makes it more exciting as you try not to fall to your doom.
I wonder what obstacles you are going to use to make the game more difficult and will there be more added as the game goes on.
I think it could be cool if as the game goes on you added more balls that the player has to control to make it even more difficult? like on the second level they have to control two balls, on the third level 3 and so on so forth.. it would make it very challenging.
Love the idea and cannot wait to play it once it's finished! :)
